I was lucky enough to grow up on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii. I remember moving to Dallas, Texas just before my 7th Grade year, and the cultural transition this required of me as a kid…. But the transition from “Luau’s” to “Bar-B-Q’s” was a lot easier than I thought it would be since Texas is such a friendly place.
The beauty of Boston beckoned for my college years at Boston University…. Once again, a big culture shock but easily overcome by the friendships I developed in a new culture. So, the New England “Clam Bakes” on the beach were the new gatherings to get used to, along with the much colder winters!
The opportunities I have encountered both in my childhood travels with my Grandparents from Hawaii to an adult with a love of eco-travel will always be a gem to cherish in my life. What an amazing gift, and today I am thankful for the cultural changes I experienced as a kid.
I do not believe that I would have the mindfulness, compassion, or understanding for animals, our environment or native peoples of this world had I not learned to celebrate cultural diversity rather than ignore the “ethnic cleansing” we witness in both the USA with our Native Americans [and other cultures] and in far too many countries around the world.
I used to tell my friends back home in Hawaii, when I was a kid with big dreams, that I would someday live in the faraway place called NYC. The idea seemed lofty at the time, but after living in New York City for more than 10 years, I often smile to myself as I walk down the busy streets on my way to auditions, meetings, or just to meet my husband for dinner.
I am a Certified Holistic Health Counselor with a passion for natural healing, I am a Radio Talk Show Host for “Conscious Lifestyles”, I am an Actor and I am a dedicated animal lover who believes that the most brilliant part of my life are the many animals who have taught me the most important and incredible lessons of true love.
I spend the majority of my time working to make the world a more humane and peaceful place for these amazing angels.
This goes hand-in-hand with my love for the environment— and everything about my life today is a practice to live being conscious of the choices that I make so that other living beings may also live in freedom.
I practice the art of Shaolin Kung Fu every week. I thank all of the Kung Fu Masters whom I am deeply grateful to for the gifts of honor, skill, and intuition that they have shown me and have brought forward into my life as the coolest benefit I could have ever dreamed of acquiring from a sport.
“Always a student in life” is something Kung Fu has taught me. I will always be in awe of God’s incredible natural world, and I will continue to seek truth.
